International Symposium on Political Science Today

The National Post-Graduate School of Political Science (Algiers, Algeria) organizes an international symposium on the situation of political science today, in Algeria and abroad. The meeting will gather Algerian and overseas professors and researchers to shed light on the teaching of this discipline in their academic establishments and on the scientific and practical importance it holds in their respective countries.This symposium will allow participants to contribute to the evaluation and promotion of the discipline with regard to the numerous challenges globalization poses to nations with growingly shared interests and concerns.
Accordingly, three general themes are proposed for the symposium. The sub-themes are for indication only.
1.Political science and its environment
The impact of national socio-political context on its teaching.
The place of political science in the field of social sciences.
2. Nature and objectives of the political science curricula
The new trends in teaching political science.
Tools of analysis and methodologies in contemporary political science.
The general trend in selecting the topics for theses and scientific researches.
3. Practical relevance of political science
Relevance of political studies and researches to political decision making.
Recourse to political studies and researches in the activities of social and economic institutions.
Conditions of participation:
Notifications of participation must be sent by email as follows :By December 30th, 2011: an abstract of the paper (500-1,000 words), accompanied with a curriculum vitae. By March 15th, 2012 : the paper in full (from 9,000 to 10,000 words).
