Harvard Graduate Conference in Political Theory

 

Description: The Department of Government (FAS) at Harvard University will host its fourth conference for graduate students in political theory and political philosophy from November 5-6, 2010. Papers on any theme or topic within political theory-from the history of political thought to contemporary normative and conceptual theory-will be considered. The conference will allow graduate theorists to present their work to peers in an ecumenical setting. Presenters will be drawn from graduate programs across the country, and hopefully the world. Papers from anywhere along the entire span of political theory will be eligible.

Harvard graduate theorists will organize the conference, referee paper submissions, moderate discussions, and prepare responses. Faculty members, alongside graduate students, will participate in the conference as audience members. There will be periods for general discussion near the end of each session. In addition, the conference will include opening remarks by a faculty member of the Government Department and will feature a keynote address by Bryan Garsten, Professor of Political Science at Yale University.
