Fox International Fellowship Eligibility and Selection Criteria
Fox International Fellowship Program aims to identify and contribute to the education of outstanding students and identify “citizen ambassadors” who, by virtue of their academic and extracurricular record, can be expected in the future to participate in guiding the world toward a more peaceful order. The FIFP, therefore, funds both the proposal and the “person.” We work with the top universities of the world as the best locations for the kinds of talent, training and networks we seek along with the capability for identifying and nurturing Fox Fellows in support of these goals. In identifying candidates for Fox Fellowships, each partner university is asked to keep the following eligibility and selection criteria in mind.
Eligibility: Graduate level students pursuing Doctoral or Masters level degrees, graduating master’s level students are eligible. Graduating bachelors level students of unusual merit and distinction may be considered but graduate level students are preferred.
Selection criteria:
- Personal characteristics. The candidate must demonstrate commitment to serious research and also capacity for leadership and civic engagement in the larger community.
- Field of focus. A strong and specific research project with a focus in business and finance, economics, political science, international relations, law, environmental policy and contemporary history, with preference for topics of contemporary, applied and/or institutional relevance to enhancing the world’s peace and prosperity. . The candidate’s overall program of studies or degree may come from different disciplines and departments as long as their project focuses on one of or a blend of several of these fields.
- Language skills. The candidate’s language skills must be sufficient both to succeed in their research project and to engage in the intellectual and social community of the host university.
à Candidates for Fox Fellowships at Yale must demonstrate high skills in English conversation, reading and writing.
