美国加州大学伯利克分校政治学教授。研究领域：当代中国研究，中国政治改革，东亚政治形势等。代表著作有Soviet Normalization and Its International Implications；China's Quest for National Identity；China Under Modernization；South Asia's Nuclear Crisis。

    于2008年12月7日在“双周学术论坛：中国深度研究”第七期做题为“China and the New Third World in the PRC’s Search for International Identity”的讲演。
