Socio-Legal Studies Association conference

Leicester De Montfort Law School is delighted to host the Socio-Legal Studies Association conference in the award winning Queens building between April 7th-9th 2009.  Further details of the conference are being added to this website as and when they become available, so do keep looking out for further information.

Ratae Corieltauvorum
Leicester, first known as Ratae Corieltauvorum was an important trading centre in Roman times and was one of the largest towns in Roman Britain.  The remains of the baths of Roman Leicester can be seen at the Jewry Wall (Adobe Reader required -www.adobe.com) and other Roman artefacts are displayed in the Jewry Wall Museum adjacent to the site. Nowadays, Leicester has much to offer the visitor.  The new theatre, Curve, located on Rutland Street Leicester (opened Autumn 2008) replaces the internationally renowned Haymarket Theatre.  Highcross Leicester has all the big high street brands incorporated into over 100 new stores under one roof, with stylish and elegant restaurants making it the largest redevelopment in Leicester.  The award winning National Space Centre
http://www.spacecentre.co.uk/ is the UK's only space science and astronomy attraction.  It houses space rockets, satellites, capsules, five themed galleries, hundreds of interactive challenges and the latest audio-visual technology and can be found on the outskirts of the city just a short 10 minute ride from Leicester De Montfort Law School.

We are delighted to report that we already have around 200 papers accepted by stream convenors for the annual conference at De Montfort University, 7-9th April 2009.  We are also particularly pleased that we have received registrations  from participants from over 20 countries.  This is clearly going to be a conference with a truly international flavour.

If you plan to attend the conference and/or give a paper, it would help us greatly if you could register as soon as possible

We look forward to seeing you in Leicester in April.
