"Governance" has recently become a key concept among Chinese policymakers and academics. It is increasingly reflected in reform practices at all levels of government in response to emerging social, political, economic, and environmental issues, as well as to challenges posed by China's market-oriented reforms and rapid modernization. This edited collection on China's ongoing search for good governance provides innovative analyses about the dynamics and factors shaping contemporary governance practices. Included are theoretical reflections on Chinese governance practices as well as China's growing role in global governance and the long-term domestic and global implications of both.
