June 16- June 23, 2011

Papers, posters, symposia/panels, or workshops are invited for the joint conference of Cheiron-ISHN in Calgary/Banff 2011.  The main conference will be from June 16-19 at the University of Calgary (Main Campus & Faculty of Medicine), while a post-conference retreat (with workshops) is planned at the Banff Centre for the Arts from June 19-23 in the Rocky Mountains.  When submitting poster/paper abstracts and letters of intent for symposia/panels and workshops, please indicate whether you would also consider to attend the Banff retreat and present at that venue (esp. posters and workshops).
Possible submissions may deal with any aspect of the history of the neurosciences, behavioral and social sciences or related historiographical and methodological issues.  All submissions should further conform to the length limitations listed below (references, tables, etc. may be appended).  To facilitate the peer review and planning process, please include a cover sheet indicating: a) title; b) author's name and affiliation; c) author's mail and email address and phone number; d) your willingness to attend/present at the Banff retreat; and e) audio/visual needs.
All submissions must be received by 5pm CST on February 1, 2011.  Authors are strongly encouraged to send submissions electronically as attachments (preferably .doc, or .rtf, although .pdf and .txt formats are acceptable), alternatively, three printed copies of a submission may be sent by post to the addresses below.
Abstracts: Submit an extended abstract (300-600 words plus references on separate sheets).  All papers should be original, i.e. the main part of the work should not have been published or presented previously at other conferences.  Presentations should be 20-25 minutes in length.  See the sample submissions appended to the conference website.
Posters: Submit a 300-400 word abstract (plus short bibliography on an extra sheet).
Symposia/Panels: Submit a 250-300 word letter of intent describing the symposium as a whole, and a 300-600 word abstract plus short bibliography from each of the participants.  A cover letter should include the names and institutional affiliations of each of the participants (such as for the general submissions as given above), which should not be revealed in the abstracts.
Workshops: Please contact one of the program chairs (weizmann@yorku.ca or fwstahni@ucalgary.ca), who will facilitate the exchange with the mutual program committee.
Student Travel Stipends: Available (ca. $100 to $300 CAD per accepted submission - co-authored presentations will have to be divided among the two etc. presenters) through ISHN and Cheiron.  These stipends are intended to help defray travel expenses and encourage applications for matching stipends at the home institutions for students who are presenting.  If you are a student and wish to be considered for a stipend, please send an additional e-mail to either of the program chairs below at the same time you submit your proposal.
Program submissions should be sent to either of the program chairs as listed above.
