CSLS MINI-SERIES ON EMPIRICAL RESEARCH METHODS

Two years ago CSLS launched a new and instantly popular series of methodology seminars presenting aspects of empirical research methods by and for legal and socio-legal scholars, with 3 workshops on a range of qualitative and quantitative methods (See links to the podcasts and other workshop materials under 2008-09, below.)

For 2009-2010, the following 3 workshops have been scheduled. To go to the website of any of the workshops in the mini-series, click on the seminar title below.

The first workshop, "Doing Story-Based Research in Socio-Legal Studies", will be led by Michael Musheno, Department of Criminal Justice, SFSU and Distinguished Affiliated Scholar at CSLS and by Steven Maynard-Moody, Director, Institute for Policy and Social Research, University of Kansas, on Friday, November 6, 2009 from 9:00 a.m. to noon, in the JSP Seminar Room.

The second workshop, "Using Old and New Media as Data Sources," will  be led by Jennifer S. Earl, Director for Information, Technology and Society and Associate Professor of Sociolgy, Uinversity of California, Santa Barbara, on Friday, March 5, 2010  from 9:00 a.m. to noon in the JSP Seminar Room.

The third workshop, "The ABCs of Data Management: Sampling, Weights, and Missing Data," will be led by Su Li, Statistician, Berkeley Law (beginning in January 2010) on April 9, 2010 from 9:00 to noon in the JSP Seminar Room.  Lunch will be provided.   (Su Li is Assistant Professor of Sociology at Wichita State University until December 2009.)
