GRANTS FOR WORKSHOPS ON TEXTILE HISTORY

 

In 2006 the Pasold Research Fund introduced a new category of grant – for themed workshops. 

 

Applications and Eligibility

We are able to offer support of up to £1,500 for themed workshops focusing on any area of textile history, very broadly defined to include the social, cultural and economic history of textiles, textile design and conservation, the history of dress and apparel, furnishings and other uses of textiles from pre-history to the present. Those based in UK universities or museums are eligible to apply.  Grants are primarily intended to cover travel and subsistence costs for speakers and applications should be fully costed, including estimates of airfares and accommodation as appropriate.

 

Applications must be made on the standard Pasold research grant form, available on the Pasold website. The form should be marked ‘WORKSHOP’ and should outline:

 

·        Theme of workshop

·        Date of event

·        Name(s) of organiser(s) and their institution

·        Brief cv(s) of organiser(s)

·        Workshop aims and objectives and potential benefits

·        Format of workshop

·        Number and type of participants

·        A full list of paper givers, their affiliations and proposed titles - identify those to be funded by the grant and provide a paragraph summarising their CV and their contribution to the conference

·        Publication or other plans stemming from the conference.

 

We will give priority to:

·        multidisciplinary applications

·        collaborative applications between universities and museums

·        applications where there are plans for the workshop to lead to a publication or other long term outcomes

 

Deadline for Applications

There will be two awards of themed workshop grants annually.  The next deadline for applications is 15^th July 2009. Applications should be emailed to hudsonp@cardiff.ac.uk (preferably) or four copies posted to Professor Pat Hudson, Director, Pasold Research Fund, at the address above. Applicants will be notified of the outcome by 30th August.  Please note we can only process applications where four copies of the application and CV(s) of the organiser(s) have been supplied.
